The annual Singapore Open Gymnastics Championships 2002,
spanned over 2 days on 30th November and 1st December. This competition
is in its second year, after being renamed in 2001; it was previously
known as Pesta Sukan Gymnastics Championships, a combined effort of
the Sports Council and Singapore Amateur Gymnastics Association for
40 years. The meet offers gymnasts and coaches from various schools
and clubs to gather for a friendly competition, and also a learning
experience.
This year, Chinese High increased its representatives
for the competition to a total strength of five, namely Ng Wei Ping,
Seah Ping Long, Tan Zi Yang Jonathan, Damian Ng and Seow Jen Yi. They
competed in the Men Artistic Gymnastics Set A. Ng Wei Ping, who competed
only in Pommel Horse had commended results- his score of 8.1 for his
neat routine made him the champion of pommel horse apparatus.
